Mazu was found, her eyes still shut, after her mother was killed for food by hunters. She was taken to Rita and Glen Chapman, missionaires in the Kikongo area of The Congo, who now care for her. Mazu has become an ambassador there, with many local people visiting to see the otter - an animal they know very little about.

I am a young male Eurasian otter called Ron. I was found lying on a roadside in bad weather by a motorist and was taken to a local vet for my initial care. The Scottish SPCA then look after me until I could be transferred to the IOSF Rehabilitation Centre where I will stay here until I am old enough to go back to the wild.

Fyne was about 5months old when she was found by a motorist near the A82 in Glencoe village, Scotland. The young otter ran up to the man when he stopped to check on it. He called the SSPCA and Fyne was taken to their rescue centre in Fife after being checked over by a local vet. Because of Fyne's tameness, it is suspected that she has been hand-reared and put back into the wild, but she would not have survived if she had not been found.
